Poniente
"Poniente" comes from the Spanish word "poner", meaning "to set"—like the sun sinking into the horizon. It's also the name of the gentle westerly winds that blow along Spain's southern coast and the northern coast of Morocco.
Our apartment, facing westward, embraces this name as a tribute to the Cadiz region.
The Romans once called this wind "Favenio", meaning "the favorable one", for its cool breezes that soften the summer heat and nourish the land.
